Inside our Chocolate Factory
Everything manufactured by Whitakers Chocolates is produced in a 30,000 sqft modern, purpose built, air conditioned factory and we employ up to 150 staff on two shifts. The factory has expanded throughout the last 50 years as sales increased and extra production facilities were required. Today we take delivery of liquid chocolate by tanker and our chocolate factory produces in excess of 10 million chocolates every week.
Our main processes include chocolate enrobing, depositing, wafer thin layering, high speed foil wrapping, foil and band wrapping and flow wrapping. In addition we print all our own foil block labels for our chocolates. Fudge manufacturing also takes place. Recent developments include the ability to apply coloured food transfers to chocolates and chocolate spraying to certain products.
A separate site houses our storage, warehousing and distribution facilities, specially developed to store our products in a temperature controlled environment. Products can be dispatched in full container loads, single pallets or single cases from that site.
