In 2010 I joined Sir Ian Botham OBE, on his Forget Me Not Walk, which specifically raised funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, and Whitakers Chocolates have teamed up once again with Beefys Charity Foundation during 2016/2017.
Staff members at Whitakers have been busy raising funds, in particular Gemma Towell, who has raised over £3,500 herself. Now it is my turn and of course I am aiming to raise as much money as possible.
On June 17th this year I am marrying my Fiancée Gemma and my challenge is to walk from my home town of Ilkley to the venue of our wedding in Bowness on Windermere, along the Dales Way, in the four days prior to the wedding. To encourage you to contribute I will be dressed as Willy Wonka and my walking buddy Jerry Holmes, will be dressed as……. Yes, you guessed it….. an Oompa Loompa!
We will be meeting at the Old Bridge Nurseries, Stockeld Road in Ilkley (where the Dales Way starts) at 9am on the 12th June 2017 where Sir Ian, Lady Kath and their daughter Sarah are planning to wave us off at 10am. Anybody wanting to join us at the start are more than welcome – particularly those dressed like us!!!
I know we all get asked frequently to donate to charities but I would very much appreciate if you could find it in you to give a little to my campaign by donating at www.justgiving.com/WilliamsWeddingWalk
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
